We completed a virtual ergonomic analysis identifying the differences and theoretical improvements of a new, high-end bed platform over a previous model. Assessments were based on a series of tests in several use-case scenarios and were rated based on usability metrics and ergonomic accommodation. Tests accommodated a range of users from 5% female, 50% average user, to an 85% male. The metrics used to evaluate ergonomics were spine shape/body positions, joint angles, line of sight, and hip/center-of-gravity shift. Following analysis of the new bed, additional ergonomic recommendations were provided to guide the next generation bed improvements.

The Traeger Timberline grill has an accompanying mobile app that allows you to control your grill, monitor your meat, and set up recipes. We designed the workflow and initial interface design as well as usability studies to test our direction. Using a mobile prototyping tool, we ran multiple user tests to determine initial use behaviors, icon recognition, and proper task completion. With each study, we were able to adjust the workflow until passing it off to a mobile app partner to do final design and development.

The Stryker Product Demo Cart originated from a casual conversation with a marketing representative. It was clear that the sales and marketing team did not have a way to showcase all of the latest technology that Stryker has to offer. There needed to be a single, elegant way that Stryker reps could demonstrate their product in a simple, yet effective manner. We conducted interviews with key internal stakeholders and created concept sketches that balanced the functional needs with the intangible emotional needs of sales. The final product, fully furnished with equipment and marketing material, can be easily uncrated, positioned and deployed for a presentation by a single person in minutes.

Our engineering participated in market research, ideation of mechanical solutions, development of test models to measure performance, and creation of final working prototypes that were instrumental in the early development of new recipes. CENTURY WOOD FIRED GRILL

Traeger challenged us with finding ways to improve the overall product quality and, if possible, find ways to reduce the overall cost of the current Century grill. We began by conducting a basic component feature analysis to establish a metric for our design proposals. Through this activity, we identified ways to simplify assembly to improve the customer’s out-of-box experience while also creating a new to the industry feature– the warming drawer. In addition, paint failures were reduced by introducing additional shielding that was designed and optimized for cost using thermal analysis techniques. The new Century was unanimously accepted by Traeger’s executives and sales team leading them to scale the Century design to a larger SKU and launched the products internationally as well as domestically.

We have leveraged this industry leading experience to develop the revolutionary Flyte personal protection system. The Flyte system, a reusable helmet with disposable lens and gown, eliminates cross contamination by providing a protective barrier between medical personnel and patient while addressing previously unattended user needs. The Flyte Suit’s breakthrough design combines superior comfort and technology with high levels of protection against contamination providing user confidence in a variety of healthcare environments.

ENDOSCOPY VIDEO CART

We saw an opportunity to improve upon the previous video carts used by endoscopic companies and decided to develop a new solution. We approached Stryker Endoscopy with a cart that we designed and engineered from the ground up. The standard Video Cart manages medical imaging video equipment so that the surgical staff can focus on surgery. The cart family was introduced in 2004 and it soon set the bar for all of its competitors. Prior to this cart hitting the market, video carts were an afterthought. They are, however, vital in keeping the OR environment organized and are the focal point of information for minimally invasive procedures.
