Job Summary: Tekna is an innovation driven firm that currently has an immediate opening for a Project Manager. The Project Manager is responsible for all leadership and management activities in both New Product Development and Consulting projects. The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Department’s Program Manager. Collaboration with cross functional teams that include Design Engineering, Industrial Design, CAD, Procurement, Production, and Quality offers a friendly and supportive team atmosphere. Tekna’s project portfolio is incredibly diverse covering Medical, Life Science, Consumer, and Industrial product categories. Tekna is largely client focused offering design consulting, contract manufacturing, and original equipment manufacturing services.
Project Manager responsibilities and duties: This candidate is expected to be creative, innovative, hands on, able to take risks, and fail fast as part of a dynamic “Innovation to Realization” offense. Expect higher levels of responsibility and autonomy as you lead your teams from innovative concepts, through inventive designs, to the production floor, out to market, and into the hands of the end customer where the product realizes its purpose.
Typical Project Manager responsibilities include:
Interface with clients as part of opportunity assessment.
Support Product Manager and Opportunity Manager in finalizing Service Agreements, Terms & Conditions, and related Statements of Work.
Ensure quality by executing Tekna’s Quality Management System.
Prepare and maintain Project Schedules in Microsoft Project.
Conduct weekly project review meetings with your Core Project Team.
Track and report on project financial metrics to ensure a viable business opportunity is sustained through the life of the project.
Track time and materials in accordance with the statement of work.
Work with finance to manage client invoicing and secure payments.
Prepare project status reports for Executive Level Management.
Project Manager qualifications and skills: The following are minimum requirements to be successful in this position:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, Business Administration or other related fields.
3 years’ experience as a Project Manager. Specifically looking for a project manager with experience in New Product Development leading cross functional teams required to take a product from concept, through detailed design, to production.
Proven track record of launching new products to market.
Demonstrated leadership skills with strong command and control.
References are required and will be verified.
The following proficiencies are beneficial to excelling in this position and will be trained however are not mandatory at time of hire:
Risk management and reliability techniques to include ISO 14971 (Risk Management) and IEC60812 (FMEA/FMECA).
Experience in heavily regulated industries is a plus. Medical Device as regulated by ISO 13485 and FDA 21CFR 820 is one example. Automotive, Aerospace, and Defense industries are other examples.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus. PMP certification is secondary to the 3 years of experience requirement.
Performs production work in a light industrial and/or assembly environment within the guidelines of Tekna Inc. job description.
Utilize hand and power tools.
Ability to lift 20 lbs occasionally.
Staff members are crossed trained across multiple work stations, quality standards, as well as high standards of safety and workmanship.
Perform assembly activities with the direction of the line leader(s).
